Below is a wireframe view of the 3D scene used to create the 3D photorealistic rendering. This is an example of creating a photorealistic rendering using a limited number of repeating elements. I created models in Modo of a single Christmas light, a single Christmas ornament and a single Christmas tree frond. I then brought the models into LightWave 3D where I repeated the elements to create an interesting 3D scene as if looking at a closeup portion of a full Christmas tree. The scene was then lit with 3D lights placed inside the Christmas lights and a background HDR light map. The scene was then rendered using radiosity which simulates light bouncing around inside the scene.
