When one of our long standing clients was preparing to have a series of corporate videos created they needed a simple 3D logo animation for the video opening along with a 2D logo animation for the video close. We had previously created a series of 3D dental illustrations for them so they asked if we could also create 3D logo animation and 2D logo animation to serve as video open and close bumpers that they could use for their upcoming series of corporate videos. While we routinely create more advanced 3D animation and 2D animation, all they really wanted for this particular project was a simple, clean and professional 3D logo animation and 2D logo animation to their specifications. They wanted the sunburst to spin into view and the letters to build over a simple gray background. So that’s exactly what we built.
3D Logo Animation & 2D Logo Animation Process
The 3D logo animation and 2D logo animation process begins with your corporate or product logo. We can work with an existing finished logo, an old logo that you wish us to update and modernize or we can design a brand new logo to represent your company or brand. We’ll design, update or streamline your logo in Adobe Illustrator in order to produce a clean vector version of the logo that we then bring into Luxology Modo where we build a 3D version of the logo. Once the 3D model of the logo is built we bring it into NewTek LightWave 3D where we apply surfaces, textures, lighting and animation. We’ll often create a few different versions of the proposed logo animation for the client to review and request changes before settling on the final version. We bring the rendered 3D logo animation into Apple Motion (and/or Fusion or HitFilm) for compositing and where any 2D elements are added and animated. We then bring the 3D logo animation and 2D motion graphics into Apple Final Cut Pro X for final video editing.
